The future of manufacturing in Egypt is taking a transformative leap forward with the introduction of the Smart Industry Readiness Index (SIRI). Developed to guide manufacturers of all sizes and sectors, SIRI is designed to help businesses start, scale, and sustain their digital transformation journeys. This pioneering initiative has been made possible through the collaboration of the International Centre for Industrial Transformation (INCIT), the Industrial Modernization Center (IMC), the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).
SIRI: A Framework for Industry 4.0
SIRI is a globally recognised framework that equips manufacturers with practical tools to assess and enhance their digital maturity. It enables organisations to identify opportunities for improvement, optimise operations, and align with Industry 4.0 practices. With the growing need for competitiveness in a rapidly digitalising world, the introduction of SIRI in Egypt is a significant step toward modernising the nation’s industrial landscape.
Milestones Achieved: Introducing SIRI to Egypt
Several key milestones have already been reached:
- First Training Program: In collaboration with GIZ, INCIT successfully conducted Egypt’s first SIRI Certified Assessor Training program, preparing a group of assessors from IMC and ITIDA to evaluate manufacturers’ digital maturity.
- Industry X.0 maturity assessments: Assessments were completed for five leading Egyptian companies, including:
- Qandil Glass
- Al-Amal Al-Sharif Plastic
- Mobika
- Andalus Pharmaceutical Industries
- Glass Ready-Made Garments
These assessments provide these organisations with actionable insights and a roadmap to advance their digital transformation.
Establishing a SIRI Certified Assessors Community
INCIT is proud to announce the upcoming establishment of a SIRI Certified Assessors Community in Egypt. This initiative will ensure sustained adoption of SIRI by fostering collaboration among assessors, manufacturers, and key stakeholders. The community will act as a catalyst for spreading best practices, enabling more manufacturers to embark on their transformation journeys.
This effort is aligned with Egypt’s sustainable development goals (SDGs), emphasising innovation, efficiency, and environmental sustainability. By equipping manufacturers with advanced tools and strategies, the initiative aims to strengthen the country’s position as a hub for industrial and technological innovation in the region.
Celebrating Achievements in Digital Transformation
The progress achieved through the introduction of SIRI was celebrated in a recent event honouring Egyptian manufacturers that have demonstrated leadership in digital transformation. Representatives from IMC, ITIDA, GIZ, and INCIT joined to recognise the first batch of companies to undergo SIRI assessments.
During the ceremony, Digital Maturity Certificates were awarded to Qandil Glass, Al-Amal Al-Sharif Plastic, Mobika, Andalus Pharmaceutical Industries, and Glass Ready-Made Garments. These companies have set a benchmark for other manufacturers by embracing the principles of Industry X.0 and committing to enhancing their operations through technology.
A Strategic Partnership for the Future
This initiative is part of a strategic collaboration among INCIT, IMC, ITIDA, and GIZ. The partnership aims to promote technological awareness, foster digital transformation, and enhance the competitiveness of Egypt’s industrial sector in the global market.
The collaboration seeks to:
- Boost productivity and operational efficiency within Egypt’s manufacturing sector.
- Encourage the adoption of smart manufacturing practices.
- Strengthen Egypt’s position as a leader in digital transformation in the Middle East and beyond.
Moving Forward: Transforming the Landscape
The adoption of the Smart Industry Readiness Index in Egypt is more than a milestone—it is a commitment to the future. By leveraging SIRI’s structured approach, Egyptian manufacturers can unlock new levels of productivity, competitiveness, and sustainability. The establishment of the SIRI Certified Assessors Community will ensure that this transformation is both scalable and enduring.
As Egypt advances on its path to becoming a regional leader in digital transformation, INCIT and its partners remain dedicated to empowering manufacturers, fostering innovation, and driving sustainable growth. With the collective effort of industry leaders and stakeholders, Egypt’s industrial sector is poised to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
