Singapore and New Delhi, India — 23 April 2025 – The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the International Centre for Industrial Transformation (INCIT) have signed a landmark Strategic Cooperation Agreement to establish a strategic cooperation aimed at accelerating Industry 4.0 adoption, promoting sustainability, and enhancing global competitiveness of Indian industries, with a strong focus on MSMEs.

The strategic cooperation, signed concurrently in Singapore and New Delhi on 23 April 2025, formalises a dynamic partnership between India’s premier industry body and the global not-for-profit organisation leading industrial transformation frameworks. The agreement outlines a roadmap for deeper collaboration across key areas such as digital transformation, operational excellence, sustainability, capacity building, and policy support.

Key objectives of the strategic partnership include:

  • Accelerating Industry 4.0 adoption across Indian manufacturing sectors using INCIT’s globally recognised tools such as Smart Industry Readiness Index (SIRI), Operational Excellence Readiness Index (OPERI), Consumer Sustainability Industry Readiness Index (COSIRI), Industrial AI Readiness Index (AIRI) and XIRI-Analytics.
  • Enabling capacity building and certification programs to train Certified SIRI Assessors and master trainers to support wide-scale industrial transformation.
  • Empowering MSMEs with frameworks and resources to enhance productivity, improve sustainability practices, and integrate into global industrial ecosystems.
  • Shaping evidence-based industrial policies through advanced analytics and insights, supporting India’s long-term vision for a competitive, inclusive, and future-ready manufacturing sector.

“Partnering with CII as our exclusive ally in India, a burgeoning global manufacturing titan, fills us with immense excitement. This strategic cooperation arrives at a crucial juncture, perfectly aligning with India’s ambitious ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives. Importantly, our current valuable partnerships remain firmly in place as we embark on this new journey with CII. Together, we’re poised to deliver data-fueled, scalable solutions that will foster inclusive progress, empower MSMEs, and generate tangible impact throughout India’s dynamic manufacturing landscape, from the factory floor to the highest levels of policy. “ said Mr. Raimund Klein, Chief Executive Officer, INCIT.

Mr. Sougata Roy Choudhury, Executive Director, CII, also emphasised the shared long-term vision: “India stands at the cusp of a new industrial revolution the one driven by data, intelligence, and sustainability. Our collaboration with INCIT brings a unique opportunity to embed global best practices into the Indian manufacturing landscape. Together, we envision building an ecosystem where innovation thrives, MSMEs scale with confidence, and digital transformation becomes a cornerstone of inclusive, future-ready growth for the nation.”

Under this Strategic Cooperation, CII and INCIT will jointly initiate projects with Indian industries and government bodies, foster participation in global benchmarking programs such as the Global Manufacturing Excellence Index (GMEI) which is INCIT’s Leading North Star Award and contribute to shaping the future of industrial development in India.

This collaboration reflects a shared vision for a digitally empowered and globally competitive Indian industry and reaffirms both organisations’ commitment to sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
