INCIT announces latest board appointment as it bolsters senior leadership

ADB’s Sungsup Ra joins INCIT as advisory board member.

Tuesday, 6 Feb 2024, Singapore – The International Centre for Industrial Transformation (INCIT) announced today the senior appointment of Mr Sungsup Ra, Asian Development Bank (ADB) Deputy Director General and Deputy Group Chief, Sectors Group, to its advisory board.

With more than 35 years of professional experience and a tenure of over 23 years at ADB, Mr Ra brings abundant knowledge and expertise to not only INCIT but the industry at large. His role at ADB involves leading organization-wide initiatives aimed at fostering knowledge-based innovation, building partnerships, and promoting sovereign operations across sectors including education, energy, finance, health, transport, urban, and water.

INCIT Founder and CEO, Raimund Klein, says of the appointment: “Mr Sungsup Ra has demonstrated steadfast leadership throughout even the most complex situations, and his deep expertise across many different sectors is invaluable as we seek to take manufacturing transformation to even higher levels.”

Mr Sungsup Ra says: “Numerous countries face substantial challenges in the era of Industry 4.0. INCIT offers these countries brilliant and practical tools and solutions to embrace Industry 4.0 and catalyse economic transformation.”

As a strategic and innovative leader, he led high-level policy dialogues with developing countries and significantly contributed to ADB’s expansion in the social sector. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he led ADB’s emergency response in health, education, and social protection in South Asia. He is actively involved in global initiatives such as the international financing facility for education, pandemic response and preparedness, and energy transition.

Prior to this, Mr Ra held key positions in several public and private entities. These include Chief Sector Officer of the Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department, Director of the South Asia Human and Social Development Division, and Chair of the Education Sector Group. He also gained valuable experience during his time at Samsung and the Korean National Pension, and taught at leading universities like International Christian University, Korea University, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Mr Ra is a holder of a Doctorate Degree in Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, United States.
