INCIT signs MoU with NAMTECH to drive industrial transformation in India

NEWS

| July 10, 2024

Wednesday, 10 July 2024, Singapore – The International Centre for Industrial Transformation (INCIT) is pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the New Age Makers Institute of Technology (NAMTECH) in India. This strategic partnership aims to advance Industry 4.0 and sustainable manufacturing developments in the country by fostering a new generation of skilled professionals equipped to lead the future of industrial transformation.

Fueling India’s Economic and Industrial Growth

According to the India Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF), India is the third most sought-after manufacturing destination in the world and has the potential to export goods worth US$ 1 trillion by 2030. In FY23, manufacturing exports reached an all-time high of US$ 447.46 billion, marking a 6.03% growth and surpassing the previous year (FY22) which saw exports of US$ 422 billion.

As India’s industrial sector undergoes rapid developments, the nation needs skilled smart manufacturing professionals to sustain its growth. Traditional engineering programs are no longer sufficient for Industry 4.0 and its technologies, highlighting the growing necessity for specialised courses in smart and sustainable manufacturing. Frameworks such as the Smart Industry Readiness Index (SIRI) and the Consumer Sustainability Industry Readiness Index (COSIRI) are crucial for current and future professionals to learn in order to enhance workforce expertise and readiness.

Commemorating the MoU

The MoU signing ceremony was held at INCIT’s Singapore headquarters. The official agreement outlines a comprehensive set of collaborative objectives and joint activities, including:

  • Jointly offering the Certified SIRI Assessor training and certification programme in India.
  • Executing Official SIRI Assessments.
  • Creating opportunities for selected NAMTECH faculties by building knowledge, capabilities, and skills as qualified SIRI Assessors, enabling them to conduct assessments efficiently and professionally.
  • Incorporating SIRI concepts into NAMTECH’s tertiary programmes.
  • Collaborating on advisory and consultancy projects using SIRI as a framework and ManuVate as a platform.

This partnership highlights the commitment of both INCIT and NAMTECH to cultivate a dynamic and robust ecosystem for smart and sustainable manufacturing in India. By leveraging the expertise of both organisations, the collaboration aims to drive significant advancements in digital transformation and sustainable manufacturing practices.

In January, INCIT, in collaboration with TÜV SÜD, conducted the SIRI training programme for lecturers at NAMTECH as the first initiative in the partnership between INCIT and NAMTECH. This initiative equipped participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to integrate SIRI concepts into the instituition’s tertiary programmes.

As a result, modules on Industry 4.0 and sustainable manufacturing will be included in the curriculum for students enrolled in the International Professional Master’s Program in Smart Manufacturing.
