INCIT and AIDSMO: A Strategic Partnership for Industrial Innovation and Growth

The 66th session of the Executive Council of the Arab Industrial Development, Standardization, and Mining Organization (AIDSMO) took place in Agadir, Morocco, from 19-21 November 2024. This session brought together delegations from 11 Arab countries and underscored the region’s ongoing commitment to industrial advancement, standardisation, and economic development. A significant highlight of the session was the participation of Dr. Jesmond Hong, Chief Operating Officer of the International Centre for Industrial Transformation (INCIT). Dr. Hong’s involvement exemplified the importance of international collaboration in fostering industrial transformation across the Arab region. During the session, Eng. Adel Al-Saqr, the Director General of AIDSMO, signed a pivotal cooperation agreement with Dr. Hong, aimed at […]
Less waste, more efficiency: how AI enables sustainable manufacturing practices

As the race to net zero accelerates, manufacturing CEOs are poised to transform their entire operations from the shop floor to waste management and even as far as rethinking land use, with sustainability integrated throughout every aspect. During this era of “green transformation,” ultimately, leaders fall into two categories: trailblazers leading the way and the slow starters, who trail behind. If McKinsey and Co.’s prediction proves accurate, by 2027, 75 per cent of S&P 500 businesses will disappear entirely. This alarming prediction sends a clear message to CEOs: to remain competitive, leaders must proactively transform their businesses to meet the green demands of today, and groundbreaking technology, such as generative […]
Optimising capital allocation for ESG: key strategies for manufacturers

The focus on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors today cannot be overstated due to pressing climate issues. Consumers have taken notice and added increasing pressure on companies to take a stand and align ESG with business and operational goals. Many have heeded the call, with ESG-focused institutional investment expected to jump by 84% to US$33.9 trillion in 2026, up from US$18.4 trillion in 2021. In manufacturing, companies are increasingly recognising the importance of ESG factors in driving long-term sustainable growth. One of these key growth drivers is strategic capital allocation, yet many manufacturing leaders are still not doing enough. An EY survey showed that 72% of 500 global CFOs […]
Growing COSIRI’s reach: Capgemini trains and certifies first batch of sustainability assessors for Europe and Americas
INCIT is proud to share that our acceleration partner Capgemini has recently concluded the training and certification of the world’s first European and American COSIRI assessors. This will scale COSIRI to reach more manufacturers worldwide. COSIRI, or INCIT’s new Consumer Sustainability Industry Readiness Index, was launched earlier this year to help drive smarter and more sustainable manufacturing across the globe, and our COSIRI assessors have an important role to play in enabling this transformation. Assessors will conduct official assessments of manufacturing organisations using the COSIRI framework. This will provide the business with a measure of its performance on the sustainability front, enable benchmarking against its peers, and help the business […]
The need to increase water efficiency in manufacturing – and how

Water has really played a pivotal role in the growth and development of society throughout the course of history, with considerable amounts consumed in various industries and through municipal use. The manufacturing industry is not excluded – in the US alone, over 18.2 billion gallons (68 billion litres) are used per day for industrial purposes. Water conservation is essential in manufacturing because efficient manufacturing processes directly affect resource depletion, but effective water use boosts operational efficiency through reduced costs and waste. Water conservation and its environmental impact in manufacturing In the manufacturing sector, water conservation drastically influences both environmental and operational outcomes. According to a U.S. Census Bureau report, over 66 per […]
Smart Sustainable Manufacturing – bringing together cleantech and advanced manufacturing

The rise of automation, machine learning and advanced technology in recent years has accelerated the digital transformation of the manufacturing industry, leading to smarter and more efficient manufacturing processes. Through this integration of recent technological advancements into various processes and systems, manufacturing businesses have managed to boost productivity and efficiency – but more importantly, become more flexible, agile and future-ready. Now, with attention firmly on environmental and social responsibility, smart manufacturing has shifted towards greener, more sustainable practices. Time is running out for the world to reach net zero by 2050; and stricter environmental regulation, increasing investor requirements and changing customer expectations, among other factors, are pushing sustainability to the […]
