NextGen Manufacturing Summit Africa 2025: Africa 4.0: Shaping the Future of African Manufacturing

The recent NextGen Manufacturing Summit Africa 2025 marked a defining moment for the continent’s industrial future, bringing together key stakeholders from across Africa and the globe to advance the vision of “Africa 4.0.”

With over 1,200 participants attending in person and an additional 1,000 joining online, the event showcased the growing momentum and collective ambition to transform Africa’s manufacturing landscape through innovation, sustainability, and collaboration.

The International Centre for Industrial Transformation (INCIT) was honoured to deliver the keynote address at the summit. CEO Mr. Raimund Klein shared INCIT’s perspective on the strategic pathways necessary for Africa to unlock its manufacturing potential and achieve sustainable, inclusive growth in the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).

In his address, Mr. Raimund emphasised three key pillars for transformation:

  • Adoption of Advanced Manufacturing Technologies
  • Importance of Talent Development
  • Data-Driven Decision-Making and Industrial Growth

He also introduced INCIT’s globally recognised tools, including the Smart Industry Readiness Index (SIRI), as practical frameworks that can guide African enterprises in evaluating their digital maturity and planning structured transformation journeys.

The summit’s success was made possible by the visionary efforts of UM6P TechniX, UNIDO, AISMA, and HANNOVER MESSE, whose collaborative leadership fostered a dynamic platform for dialogue, ideation, and partnership. The atmosphere was charged with energy—reflecting a shared commitment to catalyse the growth of a competitive, technology-driven African manufacturing sector.

From panel discussions to interactive workshops, participants explored strategies to localise global best practices, foster innovation ecosystems, and create enabling environments that support business growth and industrial diversification.

Looking Ahead: Africa’s Role in Global Manufacturing

The enthusiasm and insight shared during the summit reaffirmed Africa’s readiness to lead in shaping the future of global manufacturing. INCIT is proud to support this journey and remains committed to collaborating with governments, industry leaders, and development partners across the continent.

As Africa continues to embrace 4IR, the opportunities to scale impact, drive resilience, and empower the next generation of manufacturers are limitless. INCIT looks forward to deepening its engagement and contributing to a bold new chapter in African industrialisation.
