COSIRI helps companies identify high impact opportunities and provides transparency to consumers with regard to ESG reporting in manufacturing. By using a comprehensive prioritisation matrix governed by eight clear guiding principles, and an easy-to-understand COSIRI Star rating, companies will be empowered to accelerate their sustainability efforts and reach Net Zero.

The Consumer Sustainability Industry Readiness Index, or COSIRI, is focused on the manufacturing industry and aims to assess the level of sustainability of the companies in this industry, but the inclusion of “consumer” in its name reflects the fact that the index also takes into account consumers’ preferences, behaviours and willingness to support sustainable products and services.

COSIRI and its star system verify a company’s Net Zero transformation stage. The COSIRI star system indirectly takes into account various aspects of consumer behaviour, such as a consumer’s sustainability values and beliefs, purchasing behaviour, and willingness to pay a premium for sustainable products to minimise the impact on the environment.

By evaluating manufacturers’ current sustainability stage, COSIRI helps companies to prepare themselves for future market demand for sustainable products and services. COSIRI also assists companies to develop a roadmap for them to meet or exceed the market demand.

COSIRI is a useful tool for governments and policymakers to understand their manufacturing industry sustainable readiness and to identify opportunities for growth and innovation in the sustainable products and services sector.

In addition, COSIRI ESG data and its aggregated views can give policymakers an overview of the country’s development of specific industry segments with regard to Net Zero initiatives and the necessary policies to correct non-conforming developments.

Yes. To ensure a balance between technical robustness and usability, we partnered with a network of leading technology companies, consultancy firms, and industry and academic experts to develop the frameworks and tools. In addition, we piloted tools like the Assessment Matrix and Prioritisation Matrix with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and multinational corporations (MNCs) prior to COSIRI’s launch.

COSIRI’s Prioritisation Matrix is established based on Greenhouse Gas Protocol standards and each company’s unique business objectives. This matrix can be used to calculate and recommend the next steps required to reduce GHG emissions and guide the company’s sustainability journey.

Yes. The frameworks and tools under COSIRI have been developed to help all companies, regardless of size and industry. Through utilising the COSIRI frameworks and tools, we aim to help companies feel encouraged to take a deeper dive into specific areas to reduce GHG emissions in scope 1, 2, and 3, and drive their Net Zero efforts.

Before the onsite assessment, there will be a briefing session between the assessor and the company. The session should last roughly around 2 hours. After this, the onsite assessment will take place. Onsite assessments take about 1 to 1.5 days to complete. After the onsite assessment, the assessor will compile and collate the results into a comprehensive report. Once the report is ready, there will be a final debriefing session between the assessor and the company that should last roughly around 2 hours. Note that the actual duration of the entire assessment timeline may vary depending on the size and complexity of your manufacturing operations.

Yes, the Certified COSIRI Assessor Training Programme is open to all industry practitioners, especially in-house sustainability experts of manufacturing companies who intend to understand the COSIRI Assessment Methodology. This will allow you to better support your company in conducting internal sustainability assessments and formulate future plans to achieve Net Zero.
